Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
FolderChute is built by XploreDatum. This policy covers both the FolderChute macOS app and the folderchute.com website. The short version: we designed FolderChute so that we never see your files, and we collect as little as possible.
The app
- Your files never reach us. FolderChute uploads files directly from your Mac to the Amazon S3 or Cloudflare R2 bucket you configure, over TLS, signed with your own credentials. There is no intermediary server operated by us.
- No analytics or telemetry. The app contains no analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- Credentials stay on your Mac. Your storage secret key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Other settings are stored locally in the app's preferences.
- License checks. When you activate or validate a license, the app sends your license key, an activation identifier, and your Mac's name to Polar (our licensing and payments provider) to confirm the license is valid. Nothing else is transmitted.
- Update checks. The app periodically fetches a small update feed (appcast.xml) from folderchute.com via the open-source Sparkle framework. This is a normal HTTPS request; we do not receive personal information. You can disable automatic checks in Settings.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar collects the billing details needed to process your payment and emails you your license key. We receive your email address and purchase record from Polar so we can provide support. See Polar's privacy policy.
The website
folderchute.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We do not run analytics or advertising scripts. Cloudflare processes standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) to serve and protect the site; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If you write to [email protected] or [email protected], we keep the correspondence so we can help you. We don't add you to any mailing list.
Your rights
You can ask us to delete support correspondence or your purchase-related data at any time by emailing [email protected]. Refund and license data held by Polar is governed by Polar's policies.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
